Hey you guys! I am so excited to bring you another blog post in partnership with Zappos where I am sharing my newest and cutest slip on sneaker find. Part of this job is partnering with companies I love (and only truly love) to bring you new brands and fun content. I hope you know that I am very selective with who I work with and would never share any brands if I didn’t actually love them.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but something about this time of year has me feeling a bit uninspired. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really like spring because it means summer is coming (I am the biggest summer girl you will ever meet), but there’s just something that seems off. Every year when summer is over I go into a state of seasonal depression, some years worse than others, just because school starts again and I have to say goodbye to the sun. That being said, Spring actually gets me excited because we have almost made it to the other side. This excitement however has come with high hopes of immediate sunshine and outdoor barbecues, but the reality is, Spring here in Seattle is dreary and makes me want to stay inside all day. So instead of getting out and being the most productive I can be, hanging out with friends, and saying “yes” to things, I find myself staying at home which results in a lack inspiration and motivation. The weather has the biggest impact on me, and I’ve noticed that more and more the older I get, so to try and deviate away from this mindset I have come up with a few things that help me stay motivated during the Spring.
Take Vitamin D
Something that boosts my spirits and helps me fight that springtime “bleh mood” is taking vitamin D. It is the nutrient that you can get from the sun, but when you live in the northern latitudes or areas of high pollution you can easily become deficient. Did you know that a substantial percentage of the population of the world is deficient in vitamin D?? Crazy! A big side effect from being vitamin D deficient is feeling down or depressed, so taking Vitamin D every morning really makes a difference.
Plan A Spring Getaway
My favorite thing to do is get away. You guys know this from how much I am traveling. In fact, I have planned a trip down to Arizona at the end of April just to get a little sun and recharge physically and mentally! That’s why I was super excited about this Zappos + Hush Puppies #springgetaways Campaign. I picked out these super cute Hush Puppies Gabbie Woven Slip-On sneakers from Zappos in tan-suede for my little getaway because when I travel I need a shoe that takes no effort to slip on and can easily be worn walking around…I totally see myself wearing these out and about in Scottsdale and around the hotel.
Plan a getaway to recharge, refocus, and refresh! I guarantee you will come home feeling motivated and ready to brave the next couple of months until summer!
Say “yes” to hanging out with friends and family
Sometimes just being around friends and family can recharge you…and help you get out of the house! One of my favorite things to do are my weekly Thursday SoulCycle classes with Lauren and Payton. Not only do I get to hang out with them, but I also get a great workout in which always makes me feel productive.
Set Small Goals To Achieve Weekly
When I don’t set goals, I don’t have much motivation to do anything. I find myself watching more TV and laying on the couch the weeks I don’t make a point to set my weekly goals. Now, that can be a great way to recharge as well, but when it becomes a little excessive it starts to impact my mood and I feel unproductive, making me even less motivated. On Sundays I like to create a little list of goals for the week and I make sure to write them down where I see them every day to keep motivated and busy!
