Las Vegas Guide for Newbies from a Newbie

Las Vegas, what a city. Truly, there’s more to Vegas than strip clubs and expensive pool drinks (only one of which I got roped into…a couple times). I truly hope you realize I am talking about bougie tropical drinks, the ones with the fancy reusable cups with the bendy straws they sell you for $25 a pop but at the time they seem like a great deal since you get a discount if you bring it back the next day…plus saving the environment-win, win! Just don’t forget to bring it back or you’ll get roped into another one čśë

My favorite parts about Vegas you ask? Let’s see…I have only really been to Vegas once, unless you count that soccer tournament back when I was 15, so I am very much a Vegas newbie. I┬álack experience when it comes to sin city, but┬ácheck back with me in a few months, I might have a little more vegas time under my belt. P.S. my birthday is in August.

Here is my Las Vegas Guide for newbies, tested by a newbie.

Where to stay:

The Delano-when I went last month, we stayed here and I honestly couldn’t have been happier. I like to think of it as the Mandalay Bay’s boutique hotel, since they are both connected (the gold towers). Unlike most of the other hotels in Vegas, the Delano was offset from the casinos making it a little oasis from the smoke, drinking, and chaos, because sometimes that is very necessary in Vegas. It also doesn’t have those god awful check-in lines that so many of the other hotels have. They also had a great pool and a special section only for Delano guests that was a little more relaxing and quaint (since they are connected with the Mandalay Bay). I would HIGHLY recommend staying here.┬áThe only thing┬áis that it is at the end of the strip making for a little drive or walk to a lot of the activities.┬á

Where to eat:

Nobu at Caesars Palace-because, hello Nobu! My favorite restaurant. You MUST order the Nobu Crispy Rice with Big Eye Tuna.

Todd English’s Olives at the Bellagio-their modern mediterranean food + sun + overlooking the fountain at the best table on the patio=my daydream. Order the Tuna Carpaccio. Tip: make a reservation for right when they open for lunch so you can snag the best seat.

Le Cirque at the Bellagio-a French affair! Literally, all of the waiters are either French or speak French. Of course, you must get the escargot and you must dress up.

Sushi Samba at the Palazzo-you know me, I can’t go anywhere without sushi. Get the cucumber cocktail and spicy tuna roll…seems basic but Keegan and I altered our “perfected” homemade spicy tuna roll because of Sushi Samba!

To-do (other than clubs + bars):

“O” by Cirque Du Soleil-by far the best show I have seen, and most say this is the best show put on by Cirque Du Soleil.

Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio-with the beginning of every season, the display changes. It is a magnificent garden with 90% of the trees, flowers, and plants being recycled.

Bellagio Fountain-basic, but it’s such an amazing fountain.

Walk around and get lost-enter one hotel and just walk until you don’t know where you are. It is a very easy thing to do, plus you will see a lot. There are no windows or clocks inside the casinos so beware! It’s a strategic thing.

Check out┬áthe Venetian-have you been to Italy? Well, just go to the Venetian and you won’t have to. Sike, you have to go to Italy, but this is a fun replica.

Shopping-just when I thought I wouldn’t ever find a Gucci belt in my size, one of the 387,294,387 Gucci stores on the strip had one in stock!
